Antigua's Beaches

Antigua is a major yachting hub in the Caribbean, home to significant regattas and quality yacht services. But the island nation of Antigua & Barbuda is also known for its multitude of beaches and it has 365 of them! Some of the best beaches are fun because of their popularity with the masses, and others are enjoyable because of their exclusivity and privacy. For the latter secluded kind of beach, you'll definitely benefit from having a private yacht to get you there!

Beachy Highlights

Carlisle Bay. Situated among coconut groves as it is, you'll immediately be immersed in the sweet aroma of island life. The Curtain Bluff hotel at Carlisle Bay marks the start of two beaches that extend outwards to the super blue of Atlantic Ocean water meeting the Caribbean Sea.

Half Moon Bay

This bay is notable with the windsurfing crowd on account of the big waves that frequently stir up this area. Half Moon Bay's beach is a mile long so feel free to walk the shore while taking in six foot wave views from a safe distance! There is actually a reef here that provides protection for snorkelers, if you'd rather float calmly in the water.

Five Islands Peninsula

Here you can find the set of four Hawksbill Beaches that are home to a requisite Caribbean mix of calm, clear water and naturally gorgeous reefs. Hawksbill has seen its share of hotel development, which means more people and more amenities. Tuck away to the clothing optional section to swim freely with the tropical fishes.

Pigeon Point deserves mention for a couple reasons. In spite of its being quite crowded, this spot is still worth a visit because it's a great place to meet both locals and fellow travelers. People of all ages find entertainment at Pigeon Point, and it is near English Harbour - Antigua's historical district set on Nelson's Dockyard National Park.

If you find yourself at Dickenson Bay, you might consider crossing over to Prickly Pear Island on your private yacht. Prickly Pear is an offshore uninhabited spot whose coral gardens offer fantastic snorkeling.

Overwhelming Options

There are too many beaches on Antigua to attempt a definitive Best Beaches list, but these five provide a good starting point.
