Yacht Charter in the Leeward Islands
Wednesday, August 6th, 2008These islands form the middle of the Caribbean chain of islands that run north and south between Puerto Rico and Grenada.
St. Maarten and Antigua are easy to get to with flights from the USA and Europe.
St. Martin/St. Maarten is a dual nationality island with both French and Dutch influences on either side of the island. It is the winter “home” to many large charter yachts having excellent facilities for them and easy access for guests. Not far away on your charter yacht is St. Bart’s, which is “THE” place to be for New Year’s Eve. It provides a little taste of France right in the middle of the Leeward islands and is a very popular stopping place for many yacht charter guests.
Antigua, the other large island in the Leewards has a decidedly west Indian British flavor having been a British naval base from the times of Nelson. English Harbor is popular with larger sailing charter yachts. Smaller with their own charms are St. Kitts and Nevis, which create postcard images of dark green, lush mountain topped, islands surrounded by the bright blue waters of the Caribbean sea.
