Special Golf and Cruise option in New Zealand
December 1st, 2008
Our Southern Ocean resources recently let us know about a new and unique way
to experience New Zealand in the very Finest way.
The Hills is one of New Zealand’s most exclusive golf clubs. Located
in New Zealand’s South Island, just outside of popular Arrowtown,
The Hills’ new world class championship golf course is the venue for
the Michael Hill New Zealand Open, an event that has attracted
international players and 35,000 spectators in the past. New Zealand
Golf has announced that the New Zealand Open is to return to The
Hills Golf Club 12 - 15 March 2009.
In recent years Michael Hill also has had the stunning vessel Vvs1 built:
it has collected several
international awards; while at the The Hills, the innovative clubhouse
was awarded the supreme New Zealand architectural prize. Guests
chartering VVs1 are offered an exclusive opportunity to play on
Michael Hill’s private course whose spectacular vista stretches to the
majestic Remarkables mountain range.
The beautiful 34.18m (112′) VvS1 sleeps 8. Recently built by Alloy
Yachts in New Zealand, VvS1 offers more than 100 feet of
impeccable design and luxury. From her sleek aluminium hull, a
theme of grey, silver, wood and touches of red is carried throughout
the vessel.
On the aft deck, relax at the alfresco dining set up or the bar, wrestle
a great fish, (note the fridge/freezers and live bait tanks) and access
ample storage to go snorkeling or diving. A galley just inside has
flexible indoor-outdoor flow. Walk forward into the indoor dining
space, then a wide saloon with ample views through large windows.
At the bow, the host’s cabin has a walk in wardrobe and bath, and
there is VIP accommodation, two twin berth guest rooms, and
Captain’s quarters. All have full ensuites. The upper deck has a full
gym, a cinema, study, and another lounge, plus outdoor settee and
sunbeds, and two tenders aft for all your expeditions (A 6.5m
Rayglass Protector and 3.7m Aquapro Divemaster). The top deck has
a fantastic undercover seating area with coffee table, seating,
barbeque and a teppanyaki grill .

Thinking of another part of the world?
Sailing Vessel Georgia is based currently in the Seychelles.
A recent guest commented:-
“We have been cruising the inner islands for the past 5 weeks and have each time managed to find quiet anchorages, quiet beaches and some of the most beautiful water I have seen to swim in, we have been quite active with watersports.”
The Seychelles offer a great cruising ground, of that there is no doubt, and something we would like to explore further whilst here. Georgia is based upon the main island of Mahe where there is a basic infrastructure sufficient to service the yacht.
The climate is excellent, very warm with nice quiet winds and big ocean swells that roll across the islands. They have been fishing regularly while at sea and have caught an innumerable amount of small Tuna and one big Wahoo. The sea is really quite alive with fish and if not catching them all the time it is good to see.
The crew have been sailing Georgia as much as possible through the islands, much to the enjoyment of all of the guests ad crew alike, the captain says it has been fun to get all of the sails out and sailing off the anchor without using the engine is a big hit. The main engine is started for safety reasons and to run the hydraulics, but is not loud.
The Seychelles have a lot to offer, the crew reports the weather has been clement and inviting, They are very keen on chartering either in the Seychelles or in the Maldives.
