Croatian Medley: One Week on the Adriatic

This yacht charter sampler is designed to give you a taste of the unforgettable coastlines of Croatia and Montenegro. The journey starts and ends in Kotor, Montenegro, and in a week's time you'll see such beautiful places that you’ll wish you had two weeks on board the yacht! There's plenty more of the Adriatic to visit, and that makes this charter the perfect introduction to everything that lies ahead.

Enjoy this sampler of the Adriatic. Charter yacht itineraries are very flexible and designed for you, e.g. if the weather prevents you from exploring a particular place, your captain will certainly offer great alternatives for you.

Day One:

Board the yacht in Kotor! Spend the day wandering the old town and settling in onboard the yacht. Kotor is located between mountains and the sea, and a climb up its hilly landscape offers some terrific views. Check out Fort St. Ivan while you’re up there!

Day Two:

Go to Dubrovnik, a charming walled city with plenty of restaurants and amenities. This UNESCO World Heritage Site, with water on three sides, is a sight indeed! It is medieval and modern at the same time. You can walk around the town walls, wander within the walls, and experience a true piece of history.

Day Three:

Make your way to Miljet Island and anchor at Polace. Visit the nearby national park or the 'island within the island' monastery. Miljet is a treasure trove of beaches, castles, caves, and ruins - not to mention its Byzantine palace and Christian Basilica.

Day Four:

Prepare for a full day of sun and sightseeing! Start out at Brac, Bol's fantastic beach. Then go to Korcula, which is hilly and vibrantly green. You will see rare Gothic carvings as well as limestone towers and spires. Try Korcula's excellent wine and sample their fresh fish.

Day Five:

Enjoy your time on the island Hvar, a.k.a. the St. Tropez of Croatia. Hvar is notable for its flowers and spices. You'll feel both relaxed and invigorated as you walk its fragrant paths. Hvar is also surrounded by coves and bays that are great for an afternoon cruise/swim.

Day Six:

If your yacht can make the passage, keep heading north toward Sibenik by way of a windy river gorge that has cliffs on both sides! You'll end up in a lake and be able to dock at Skradin Marina. Take a private tour boat to Krka Falls and visit the monastery. Seafood at Konoba Zlatne restaurant is another highly recommended place not to miss.

Day Seven:

Cruise back to Kotor at a leisurely pace. Look for familiar ports of call and take note of everything in between. Not in a hurry? Stop for a swim! Back in Kotor get a coffee and absorb the beauty of the town's Romanesque and Gothic houses. Have dinner onboard, go out for drinks, and prepare to disembark the next morning. (Consider spending an extra night or two in your favorite Balkan city before heading home!)
