This archipelago of 83 islands gained its independence from the UK and France in 1980. Like many of the South Pacific islands, it is a diving and fishing paradise. In addition to countless coral reefs, there is terrific wreck diving here, including the world's largest diveable WWII shipwreck, the SS President Coolidge.

Vanuatu lies 2,500 miles from Tahiti and 1,000 miles from Brisbane, Australia. Upon arrival, it truly feels like you have stepped back in time on your yacht charter here. The local people are called Ni-Vanuatu and their warmth and friendliness is genuine and infectious. The open market is a good place to mingle with the locals. The huge hand woven baskets full of fruits and vegetables, or the mounds of sugar cane are a sight to see.

For land adventures, there are several volcanoes, including the world's most accessible active volcano, Mt. Yasur on Tanna. Vanuatu is also known for its numerous cultural ceremonies, including the renowned Pentecost Naghol, which includes land diving from tall wooden towers! This enthralling ceremony is performed from April to June to guarantee a bountiful yam harvest. Since there is malaria in Vanuatu, charter yacht guests have to prepare medically for the trip, but it is an adventure like no other!
