BAHAMAS REST & RECUPERATION ITINERARY

A sample itinerary for a Bahamas charter

Contact Us

Bahamas: Rest & Recuperation

The Bahamas, close to the USA but really, very far away! Every charter we arrange in the Bahamas is planned just for you; there is no fixed itinerary! You'll discuss in the plannning process an outline of what activities your ideal vacation includes, and your charter captain will create a draft plan just for you. This sampler moves less and allows much more time to just "hang" - it's your vacation and you can go where you want to in the Bahamas. You'll be dependent only on the distance between islands, the weather, and where your yacht can safely go.

Enjoy this sampler beginning in Nassau and exploring the Exumas in the beautiful Bahamas.

Day One:

Welcome to Nassau, capital of the Bahamas and starting point of your trip. You might meet your yacht at Paradise Island's Atlantis Marina, Albany Marina, or Hurricane Hole Marina. Lunch will be served aboard the yacht, and then you will have the afternoon to explore. Atlantis has a golf course, spa, shopping arcade, and more to help you unwind after your flight down to the Bahamas. If you've hit the ground running, you might have your captain take you directly to Exumas Highbourn Cay!

Day Two:

After you have made your way to Highbourn Cay, it will be time to swim in the crystal clear water, take a leisurely walk, and then lay upon the beautiful beach. Once your group has had a chance to relax, a quick excursion to see the iguanas at Allen's Cay is an exciting option. Look for the plane wreck in the lagoon at Norman's Cay. Or just use the day to beach comb and test out the yacht’s snorkel gear in the shallow waters off of Highbourn Cay!

Day Three:

Your private charter yacht's captain will steer the boat to Shroud Cay or to Warderick Wells, wherever you prefer to stay the night. In Shroud Cay you can navigate the surrounding creek beds in your yacht's kayak, then visit the beach, and even go for an easy hike. Warderick Wells is in Exuma National Park where you will find trails that lead to some interesting caves, exotic plants, and Loyalist ruins. By the end of your day, you will be ready for a private beach cookout, courtesy of your yacht’s crew!

Day Four:

Go to Sampson Cay Marina in the morning, and spend the day getting to know this charming spot. Sampson Cay Club attracts adventurers so this is a great place to mix and mingle. You can find good food and a fun bar in the club, but try not to spend all your time inside! Sampson Cay is a protected area, and it is relatively quiet. You will not have to go far to find a peaceful beach to be alone, to read your book, or to watch the sun set.

Day Five:

Next, wander over to nearby Staniel Cay. Staniel Cay Yacht Club provides the social scene for vacationers, sailors, and a handful of residents. Staniel Cay is a popular stopover because it is in the middle of the Exuma Cays and it happens to be the setting of a James Bond movie. Be sure to check out "Thunderball Cave" here in Staniel Cay and live it up Bond-style with a cocktail in your hand and a sense of adventure in your spirit. After all, you only live once!

Day Six:

Today is reserved for revisiting your favorite spot. Exuma Land & Sea Park is amazing, educational, and remarkably well-preserved. But no one could blame you if you'd rather lounge on the deck of your yacht or walk a secluded beach! Either way, the crew will always be ready to answer questions and point you in the right direction.

Day Seven:

You will return to Nassau and have the rest of your day to yourself. Take the tender to town and shop along Bay Street. Try a conch dish. Look for pirate landmarks. Or stay on Paradise Island and take advantage of all that Atlantis Resort has to offer. Check out the Atlantis Aquarium and visit the inhabitants of their large marine park. Enjoy your last dinner aboard the yacht- or eat at one of Atlantis’ many restaurants and gamble at the casino!

Day Eight:

Bid the crew farewell and disembark at noon. Prepare to do it all again next year!

This Is Just a Sampler!

NOTE: This is intended as a suggestion, to give you an idea of where you may want to explore in the Bahamas on a charter yacht. You will work with your Captain to tailor your Bahamas charter to your preferences both before you arrive and while you are onboard. Alterations likely will be made along the way, for instance, when you fall in love with one deserted beach and just can't leave!
